HAFIZABAD: Rice Exporters, Kissan Board of Pakistan and Anjuman Tahaffuz Haqooq-i-Kashtkaran Hafizabad have urged the government to withdraw the proposal to ban export of Pakistani basmati rice.

At separate meetings of rice exporters association, Kissan Board of Pakistan and Kashtkaran here on Monday, it was pointed out that the growers and rice exporters earned good reputation in the international markets and captured the markets after a long struggle.

Haji Muhammad Yaseen, a rice exporter and President Hafizabad Rice Exporters Association said the previous government had not declared the support price of wheat at the time of its sowing as a result of which wheat production had been decreased by 20 to 30 per cent this year. Had the support price been announced at the time of sowing, the wheat production would have been increased by 20 to 30 per cent, he maintained. APP
