Pakistani lawyers begin long march despite police crackdown (Lead, Changing Dateline)
Mar 12th, 2009 | By Sindh Today | Category: SindhIslamabad, March 12 (IANS) Pakistani lawyers Thursday began their long march from Karachi to demand restoration of Supreme Court judges sacked two years back, as over 400 opposition activists across Punjab were rounded up in a major crackdown by the police on the eve of the march and the sit-in planned here next Monday.
A large number of lawyers gathered outside the Sindh High Court from where the long march was kicked off. A rally of lawyers left for Mazar-i-Quaid, Geo TV reported.
