    ICC: Hair unlikely to umpire Pakistan

    The International Cricket Council have confirmed Darrell Hair is unlikely to umpire any Test or one-day internationals involving Pakistan in the near future.
    The governing body stressed no conditions had been attached to Hair’s return to the elite panel of umpires, but said common sense would prevail when appointing match officials.

KARACHI, March 19, 2008 (AFP) — Former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq was “shocked and disgusted” by controversial umpire Darrell Hair’s reinstatement but Australia welcomed the move on Wednesday.
Inzamam clashed with Hair in the forfeited Oval Test between Pakistan and England in August 2006, which led to the Australian umpire’s ban from standing in top-level matches.



Former Pakistan wicket-keeper Taslim Arif passes away

KARACHI: Former Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Taslim Arif has died after a brief illness, family sources said Friday.
The 54-year-old, who was the junior squad selector, played six Tests for Pakistan, scoring 501 runs at an impressive average of 62.62 and took nine victims. He also played two one-day internationals.
