    Russia, US begin nuclear arms reduction talks

    Moscow, May 19 (Xinhua) Russia and the US have started the first round of talks here on a new strategic arms reduction treaty, the Russian foreign ministry said Tuesday.

    The US delegation is led by Rose Gottemoeller, US assistant secretary of state and the Russian side is headed by Anatoly Antonov, director of the security and disarmament department of the Russian foreign ministry.


    Penn to play Nazi hunting rockstar in new film

    London, May 19 (IANS) Oscar winning actor Sean Penn is set to play a Nazi-hunting rockstar in a new movie.

    The “Milk” star is in talks to headline Italian director Paolo Sorrentino’s first English-language film “This Must Be the Place” and is slated to play a wealthy, retired rocker who embarks on a quest to find the German officer who executed his father, reports contactmusic.com.

Spielberg to make biopic on Martin Luther King

London, May 19 (IANS) Legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg is set to fulfill his longtime dream of bringing the life of legendary civil rights activist Martin Luther King to the big screen as he has been granted permission to make a biopic on him.

King, who was assassinated in 1968 in Memphis, Tennessee at the age of 39, was a leading campaigner for equality for African-American citizens.

UN to hold Human Rights Council session on Sri Lanka

Wall Street falls as housing sector tumbles

New York, May 19 (Xinhua) The Wall Street opened lower Tuesday as the record plunge of the housing sector in April overshadowed the better-than-expected earnings of the Home Depot.

The US Commerce Department said the construction of new homes and apartments fell 12.8 percent in April to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 458,000 units. Economists had expected the construction sector to post a modest increase in April.



UAE archaeologists discover 3,000 B.C. pottery

Dubai, May 19 (IANS) Archaeologists in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have discovered potsherds dating back to around 3,000 B.C., WAM reported Tuesday.

The discovery was made in the Ed-Dur archaeological site in the emirate of Umm Al Qaiwain.
