ISLAMABAD : Leaders of major coalition partners will hold talks on the issue of deposed judges today (wednesday), Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani said here on Tuesday. Gilani has said both the major ruling coalition parties are committed to the issue pertaining to restoration of deposed judges. “PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari and PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif are holding a meeting to discuss the proposed constitutional package on Wednesday”,he added.

ISLAMABAD : A mammoth rally from across Pakistan converged on the Capital on Friday to press the new government to reinstate the judges ousted by President Musharraf on November 3 after imposing emergency.

The caravan of lawyers, representatives of civil society and the workers of political parties moving towards Islamabad here on Friday. Caravan left from Jhelum after leading lawyers gave address to a large gathering of participants of long march. Talking to lawyers convention, Aitzaz Ahsan said the judges have been paid their salaries, which means they are “working but not functional”

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Sherry Rehman Thursday said government would fully facilitate lawyers’ long march, and had signed a Code of Conduct with organisers of the event and district administration, Islamabad.

ISLAMABAD : Minister for Finance, Syed Naveed Qamar on Wednesday proposed 20 percent increase in basic pay of all the federal government employees as well as the armed forces in the budget 2008-09.

In his budget speech in the Parliament House, he said that 20 percent raise has also been proposed in the pension of all civilian and military pensioners.
