Evidence building of Headley and Rana’s links to 26/11

New Delhi/Mumbai, Nov 19 (IANS)Investigators probing David Coleman Headley’s links in India said they were close to nailing the connection between American terror suspect and his Canadian accomplice Tahawwur Hussain Rana with the larger module that had planned and executed the 26/11 strikes.

Top sources in the National Investigation Agency (NIA) that has taken over the case said it had established that Headley and Rana were in touch with the same Pakistan-based handlers who gave directions to the 10 terrorists who attacked Mumbai.

New Delhi, Nov 19 (IANS) He could well have been discovered by John Le Carre. He came from Barack Obama’s hometown, an Islamist at heart with a Christian name who claimed to be a Jew. His mission was to cause mayhem in India. As he remains in an American prison, Indian detectives are slowly uncovering David Coleman Headley’s silent but vital role in the horrific Mumbai terror attack.

The Pakistan born American citizen was not alone in his mission. Along with childhood buddy and Canadian Tahawwur Hussain Rana — also born in Pakistan — he toured India extensively in the run up to the November 2008 Mumbai strike that left 166 Indians and foreigners dead in three days of naked terror.

Rabies scare haunts Himachal hamlet

Space shuttle Atlantis docks at ISS

Washington, Nov 19 (IANS) US space shuttle Atlantis has docked at the International Space Station (ISS) Wednesday after nearly two days of journey.

Commander Charles Hobaugh steered the shuttle to a docking with the station at 1651 GMT, Xinhua reported quoting US space agency NASA.

Insects and bigger animals equally intelligent

London, Nov 18 (IANS) Tiny insects could be as intelligent as much bigger animals, despite dot sized brains, says a new study.

“Animals with bigger brains are not necessarily more intelligent,” according to Lars Chittka, professor of sensory and behavioural ecology at Queen Mary’s Research Centre and University of Cambridge colleague, Jeremy Niven.

Police identify 2 Paharganj cyber cafes used by Headley

New Delhi, Nov 17 (IANS) Delhi Police Tuesday conducted extensive searches at cyber cafes in Paharganj area of central Delhi and identified two internet cafes used by suspected Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) operative David Headley during his three-day stay here in March this year, police sources said.

“Extensive search was carried out in the cyber cafes. Of the many cyber cafes, two were found to have been used by Headley. He transferred some documents via internet from these cafes,” a police source said.

India sends most students to US as Americans look to India (Second Lead)

Washington, Nov 17 (IANS) India sent over 103,000 students to the US in 2008-09, the maximum number from any country, a new survey said. At the same time, India became one of the favourite destinations of American students.

According to the Open Doors 2009 survey by the Institute of International Education released Monday, India remains the leading place of origin for the eighth consecutive year, increasing by nine percent to 103,260.
