Elephant rescued from a mud pit in Kerala

Wayanad, (Kerala) July 4 (ANI): Locals in Wayanad district of Kerala rescued an elephant from a mud pit on Saturday.
Locals said its owners used it to carry heavy logs to lumberyards and was stationed nearby with its legs in chains.
“As you can see the elephant’s legs were chained. In the morning people found the elephant stuck in the pit. No one in charge of the elephant was around,” said Shyam Kumar, a local.
“Without wasting any time we rescued the elephant with whatever help was available locally. The elephant was in a very bad condition at that time,” he added.
The elephant was successfully rescued without causing any injury to it. (ANI)
