Minister constitutes Inter-Ministerial Sports Committee

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Sports Najamud Din Khan has constituted an Inter-Provincial Sports Ministerial Committee as part of efforts to raise sports standards.

The Minister for Sports of Azad Kashmir and Northern Areas sports authorities have also been included in this committee.

Secretary, Ministry of Sports, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Sports, Secretary SAFRON/Joint Secretary SAFRON and Director General, Pakistan Sports Board are proposed to be its members, said the PSB Spokesman Muhammad Azam Dar on Wednesday.

The notification of the committee will be issued in a couple of days. The committee will hold its meetings on monthly basis in the respective area, he said.

“The main objectives of this committee will be to remove the bottlenecks for the promotion of sports in the country and to take measurers on how to raise the standard of sports at national and international level”, Dar said.

Federal Minister for Sports has also issued directions to the Pakistan Sports Board that he himself and Secretary, Ministry of Sports/Vice-President, Pakistan Sports Board would also hold monthly meetings with the main office-bearers of all the national sports federations.

Monthly meeting will be attended by the office bearers of two to three national sports federations. Main agenda points for such meetings will be achievements of the respective Pakistan teams at national and international level, weaknesses, grants-in-aid released to the federations during the last three years.
