CM pays glowing tributes to lawyers struggle
May 6th, 2008 | By Sindh Today | Category: Focused, PakistanPESHAWAR : The NWFP Chief Minister, Ameer Haider Khan Hoti, has paid glowing tributes to the lawyers’ community for their unprecedented struggle for restoration and independence of the judiciary in the country.
The sacrifices rendered by the lawyers for reinstatement of deposed judges would not go in waste as the issue of judges is about to be resolved, Hoti told a delegation of District Bar Association Mardan, who called on him at his office on Tuesday.
Representatives of the People Lawyers Forum and Malgari Wakeelan were also among the delegation.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that political parties in the government were backing the lawyers for their struggle to restore the judiciary; saying with the support of civil society and political forces, the victory of lawyers was in sight.
Referring to the law and order situation, Hoti said some vested interests were involved in making the government efforts for peace a failure. However, he said their sincere efforts would continue till the restoration of a lasting peace in the province and its adjacent tribal belt. The fire, which broke out in Waziristan, reached the province, but we would not allow it to gut our houses, the Chief Minister assured.
In order to cleanse the society of criminals, Hoti said his government was taking administrative measures to improve the security situation across the province.
He on this occasion held an appeal to the masses to help the government in its efforts to get rid of criminal activities including kidnapping for ransom, extortion, car-lifting and robbery, etc. “The goons will not be allowed to make hostage the societyâ€Â, Hoti vowed.
Chief Minister said stern action would be taken against the people involved in the dirty business of human trafficking, saying it was not the issue of a particular area.
Hoti paid rich tributes to the members of the People Lawyers Forum and Malgari Wakeelan for keeping intact their 25-year-old alliance, saying the solution of every issue was hidden in unity.
Chief Minister said his government was taking steps in every direction in consultation with all the allied parties, adding that every problem would be resolved through consensus. “We have a judicious stance over the development of the province and distribution of fundsâ€Â, Hoti disclosed.
On the request of the delegation, the Chief Minister announced expansion in district court Mardan, construction of sheds and provision of books for the library of Bar Association and assured them that their all problems will be solved on priority basisâ€Â.
