Nawaz SharifLAHORE: The split judgment came from LHC about the nomination of Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif’s by-election bids. One the two judges Justice Akram Qureshi gave judgement against Nawaz Sharif’s Nomination while Justice Hafiz Tariq Naseem in his decision said the nominations are correct and declared Nawaz and Shahbaz Sharif eligible to contest the polls.

Following a split decision over the appeals against PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif and party chief Shahbaz Sharif nominations by the two judges’ election tribunal the case sent back to the chief election commissioner to decide the matter.

Ashtar Ausaf, the lawyer of Sharif brothers, talking to newsmen said the chief election commissioner could constitute election tribunals but he has no powers to take decisions. The tribunal can neither sent the matter back to the chief election commissioner nor the CEC can revise the verdict, he said. The counsel believes a split decision means Sharifs could contest the elections. (agencies)
