Security further beefed up in Punjab province

LAHORE: Inspector General Police Punjab, Shaukat Javed Monday directed to further beef up security of sensitive installations and locations in the province,in view of the Islamabad blast.

While talking to APP here on Monday afternoon, he said that he had directed all regional, city and district police officers across the province to remain high alert and ensure foolproof security, as well as to maintain law and order in their respective areas.

The IGP directed police officers to take effective precautionary measures especially in crowded public places to prevent incidents of terrorism and subversion, and ordered deployment of plain clothes police where necessary.

He ordered intensified patrolling around railway stations, bus terminals, bus stops, markets, cinema halls, hotels, mosques,imambarghas, churches and other important places of big cities.

Police officers have been directed to utilise all available resources and their best professional skills to maintain vigil on the activities of suspected persons, proclaimed offenders and subversive elements.

Shaukat Javed has asked people to cooperate with the police in this regard,and in case they find any unclaimed object or a suspicious person or shady activity they must immediately inform police emergency and Rescue 15 to avoid any untoward incident. (APP)
