Nine prisoners released from Balochistan jails on PM’s directives

QUETTA: After payment of fine by the Federal Government, nine prisoners who remained in jails despite completing their imprisonment periods were released from Quetta Jail on Wednesday.

On the orders of the Prime Minister, the Federal Government paid more than Rs. 0.21 million to the Provincial Home Department which issued the release orders of Waqas Ali, Rehmatullah, Muhammad Farooq, Zahir Muhammad, Muhammad Sachal, Hussein Badshah, Sajjad Islam, Ghulam Mustafa and Hazrat Ali after receiving the amount.

Talking to media Deputy Inspector General Prisons Muhammad Akbar Lashari said that the Prisons Department was taking steps to provide medical facilities, impart essential training to jail staff and improve the conditions of jails on the directives of the Prime Minister.

He further said that two more jails were being constructed under Access to Justice Program which would lessen burden of prisoners on jails. (APP)
