IED explosion injures four persons, CM announces compensation: Police
Jun 5th, 2008 | By Sindh Today | Category: PakistanKOHAT: A remote controlled Improvised Explosive Device (IED) went-off with a loud sound in a video and CD shop in thickly populated main bazaar of Kohat on Wednesday, wounded four persons.
Police said the explosion occurred when people were inquiring about prices of CDs and music cassettes in the video shop at Bannu market. As result of severe explosion, Mir Janan son of Toti Shah, Ashraf Hussain son of Ashgar Hussain, Numan son of Muqeel Shah and another persons sustained injuries.
The windowpanes and CDs worth thousands of rupees were destroyed. The bang of explosion was heard at a long distance, making the people in the vicinity panic.
The injured were rushed to a local hospital for treatment. Police have registered case and started investigation. Meanwhile, the NWFP Chief Minister, Ameer Haider Khan Hoti while strongly condemning the explosion said that elements involved in such heinous crime would not be spared.
He announced approval of compensation for the victims and directed the hospital administration to provide free treatment to the wounded. They also condoled with the members of bereaved families. (APP)
