Islamabad roads blocked with containers, barbed wires to block “Long March”

ISLAMABAD: The Constitution Avenue of Islamabad has been blocked with huge containers and barbed wires to block long march on Islamabad.D. Chowk has been blocked with ten containers and entry and exit routes of several others avenues have also been blocked, the sources added.
The security has been beefed up and snap checking has been started at Constitution Avenue and other venues leading toward parliament house.
Fifty huge containers have been arranged by the Islamabad administration on the interior ministry’s direction to possibly block the long march entering Islamabad.
“The pedestrians would not be intercepted and the participants of the long march will not be cut off at any point to enter the cityâ€, the sources said.
A high level meeting held in the ministry of interior which dragged till wee hours of Monday failed to decide the final interception strategy, the sources maintained.
The meeting also discussed how to counter possible violence during the march and how to manage the huge crowd. Key roads heading to the junction of the Presidency, the Parliament House and the Supreme Court, are seen barricading, gradually, with barbed wires.
