13 Pakistani soldiers killed in US-led attack
Jun 11th, 2008 | By Sindh Today | Category: PakistanPESHAWAR: At least 13 Pakistani Frontier Corps personnel were killed on the Tribal area of Pakistan as US-led forces in Afghanistan attacked militants “infiltrating” Afghanistan, a security official said on Wednesday.
Officials in Mohmand tribal agency have confirmed the killings of 13 Frontier Corps personnel at Chopara check point near Nawa Pass area close to the Bajaur Agency by NATO and Afghan forces, 40 security force personnel are still missing.
Two aircraft bombed several locations, hitting two Frontier Corps paramilitary posts in the Mohmand tribal region, local tribesmen said.
An army statement said the incident “had hit at the very basis of co-operation” between the two countries in the war on terror.
It said a strong protest has been launched by the Pakistan army, which reserved “the right to protect our citizens and soldiers against aggression.”
The United States has in the past used unmanned drones to attack suspected militants inside Pakistan, an ally in its war on terror. Pakistan says the attacks are a violation of its sovereignty. US Forces in Afghanistan refused to comment on the incident.
The Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan claims to have shot down a helicopter of the foreign forces and killed all the occupants in the chopper.
Sources said that fresh security forces contingents have been sent to Pak-Afghan border and started search operation for the missing officials whereas tribal also send armed lashkar to the border. Geo/PA/IOL

Frontier corps killed is a bad news waiting to happen. USA claims it informed the FC of rockets fired from Taliban and asked them to keep away from the area they were going to bomb but the message was not delivered either by the Pashtu force or the corps. The Taliban claims of shooting down a helicopter and captured some Afghan soldiers shows that they started the attack on US and Afghan forces. Clearly the peace deals have not worked, the girls schools have been demolished and soldiers killed by Taliban take advantage and hide among civilians. Locals say they are unable to control Mehsud’s group who killed Ms. Benazir. Americans want him arrested as warnings from Mehmood Shah a retired brigadier way back in 2006 said ISI has vested interest in promotion of Mehsud’s group and others. Americans don’t take lightly when Mehsud invites journalist. The LINK
