NA passes resolution against blasphemous caricatures
Apr 15th, 2008 | By Sindh Today | Category: PakistanISLAMABAD: National Assembly in unanimous resolution Tuesday strongly condemned publication of blasphemous caricatures in newspapers of Denmark and release of offensive, derogatory documentary on Islam by a Dutch Parliamentarian.
The House demanded of United Nations to take necessary legal, political and administrative steps to curb this trend and ensure respect for all religions and societies.
It noted these blasphemous acts have not only deeply hurt Muslims all over the world but are also in violation of international law including UN Charter and laws of the countries.
It asked the governments of Netherlands and Denmark to prosecute responsible people for defaming other religions under their own laws.
The members of various parties condemned publication of blasphemous cartoons and anti-Holy Quran film.
They stressed freedom of expression should not be misused to injure feelings of other people. geo
