ADJ Malir bails out MQM -H chief Afaq Ahmed in murder case

KARACHI: Additional District & Sessions Judge Malir, Karachi Aftab Ahmed Friday granted bail to Muhajir QaumiMovement (H) Chief Afaq Ahmed against surety of Rs 2 lakhs in a murder case.
The bail order came on an application filed by Afaq’s counsel Sohail Anjum. According to prosecution, on July 30, 2002, Zubair Ali,son of Mashooq Ali, along with his mother Rafiqun Nisa were going to their home in Nazimabad in a taxi, when three to four unknown persons allegedly opened fire injuring his mother and taxi driver, Kafiluddin.
The complainant took his mother to Al-Mustafa Trust, and Kafiluddin rushed to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) where he succumbed to injuries.
Police registered FIR No144/02 under Sections 302, 324, 109/34 ofPPC at Malir City police station against Mohajir Qaumi Movement (Haqiqi) chief Afaq Ahmed, Fayaz, Babar and Aamir Khan. Co accused Fayaz and Babar are already on bail while Amir Khan’s case is pending before SHC.
