PPP finalises formula for Sindh Cabinet

KARACHI: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has finalized a formula on which the Sindh Cabinet will be formed with 30 members in the first stage

Sources said that 25 ministers and five advisors will be inducted. Meanwhile, the party is considering giving the slot of deputy speaker to the Awami National Party (ANP). They said that consultations on department assignments have also been completed.

According to sources, PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari will reach Karachi tomorrow (Monday), aiming to finalize the names to be included in the cabinet. Negotiations on the inclusion of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) are also expected.

The PPP parliamentary leader in the Sindh Assembly, Pir Mazhar-ul-Haq, is slated for the slot of senior minister, with the portfolio of Education. Others named as likely candidates include Zulfiqar Mirza for the Home department, Agha Siraj Durrani for Revenue, Manzoor Wassan for Communications, Syed Murad Ali Shah for Finance, Makhdoom Jameel-uz-Zaman for Irrigation, Ayaz Soomro for Law, Rafique Engineer, Jam Saifullah Khan Dharejo for Excise and Taxation, Dr Sikandar Mandhro for Health, Nadir Magsi for Local Bodies, Haji Manwar Ali Abbasi for Agriculture, Zahid Bhurgari for the Inter-provincial department, Sajid Jokhio, Jam Mehtab, Dia Ram Eesrani for Minority affairs and Shazia Atta Marri for Information and broadcasting, Sassui Paleejo for Women and Shama Mithani for Social Welfare.

Sources also added that there will be five advisors to the cabinet, three of who will by from the interior of Sindh and two from Karachi. Dr Ayub Sheikh and Faisal Raza Abidi are being considered for these slots. online
