Sindh to fill 8000 police posts

Qaim Ali ShahKHAIRPUR: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah on Tuesday announced to fill 8,000 vacant posts in the Police Department.

Talking to reporters at the DPO Office here, Qaim said salaries of policemen will be increased in the next budget, bringing them at par with the Punjab Police. He said he had rejected political influence and pressures on postings and transfers of police officials.

He said police officials having integrity had been posted, with commitment to ensure law and order in Sindh. He said the law and order situation of Sindh was satisfactory and the police officers were performing their duties honestly and dedicatedly. Qaim said the Rangers and the FC would be withdrawn from Sindh because the Sindh Police had an expertise in dealing with the law breakers.

He said the Sindh Police will be fully equipped with modern weapons and provided other facilities. Qaim said the Sindh Police were facing grave problems but they were performing their duties sincerely. He said corruption from the police will be uprooted with a good salary package and other incentives.

Qaim said the Khairpur Police had arrested a gang of dacoits and he was informed by the police that the ratio of kidnappings had decreased. The ratio of Karo-Kari killings had also come down, he said. Qaim said the old system could not be rectified within days and it would take time and he was focusing upon the law and order. In this connection, the Sindh government was relying on the police rather than the paramilitary forces, he said.

Qaim lauded the police performance of the Sukkur Region and said that the IGP Sindh had rewarded the Khairpur Police with Rs 100,000 cash on his directives. He said through encouragement, the morale of the police force will be increased.

He said kidnappings for ransom had come down by 30 per cent. Also, murders, dacoities and other crimes had decreased, he said. He said the RPO Sukkur had informed him that 125 pickets had been established, sealing the entry and exit points of dacoits.

Earlier, the Sindh CM was given a briefing by the RPO Raho Khan Brohi, DIG Bashir Ahmed Memon and DPO Khairpur Ghulam Nabi Memon. Qaim directed them to apprehend the outlaws and provide security to the people.

Qaim also held meetings with several delegations at the Circuit House, Khairpur, and assured them that the Sindh government had designed a comprehensive strategy for uprooting poverty and for providing jobs. He said there was no political uncertainty in Sindh after the PML-Nís move. He said Asif Ali Zardari will manage the situation and conspirators will not succeed and there was no need for confusion.
