Resolutions on BB to be tabled in Sindh PA
Apr 2nd, 2008 | By Sindh Today | Category: SindhKARACHI: Two resolutions about Benazir Bhutto, a former Pakistan People’s Party chairperson who was assassinated at an election rally on December 27 last year, will be tabled in the upcoming session of the newly-elected Sindh Assembly, summoned by Governor Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan to be held on Saturday (April 5).
According to one resolution, deep condolences would be offered on the martyrdom of Benazir, a two-time former premier, and rich tributes would also be paid to her leadership and sacrifice of her life for the cause of the restoration of democracy and the stability of Pakistan. As for another resolution, the house would appeal the federal government to approach the United Nations and constitute an international enquiry commission on the assassination the late PPP chairperson, according to Pir Mazhar-ul-Haq, PPP parliamentary party leader designate, while talking to a group of newsmen.
During these sessions, Mazhar said in addition to the taking of oath by the provincial lawmakers-elect, election of the speaker and the deputy speaker, election of the leader of house and taking of vote of confidence from the house by the new leader of the house, some legislation work also would be done. Asked as to whether the Mutahida Qaumi Movement was also being invited to join the Sindh cabinet, Mazhar said that the PPP wanted that the MQM should also become part of the process of reconciliation.
