Sindh Law Minister asks officers to complete devl. schemes on time
May 20th, 2008 | By Sindh Today | Category: SindhLARKANA, May 19 (APP): Sindh Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Muhammad Ayaz Soomro has called upon the officers to complete the development schemes in District Larkana on time so that the funds allocated for the purpose could not lapse.
Addressing a joint meeting of district officers and Awam Dost Panel Councillors here on Monday he said that present government is attaching high importance to providing health and education facilities.
Flanked by Sindh Minister for Social welfare Ms. Nargis N.D.Khan, he said the law and order was receiving top priority and for tranquillity in the province honest and well-reputed police officers were being posted.
He said soon the killers of Dr. Dharmo Mal, a medical officer in Chandka Medical College and the brother of councillor Barkat Shaikh would be arrested.
He said the PPP government was committed to provide education and health facilities at their door steps.
Ayaz Soomro said the Sindh government has a plan to offer jobs in two phases. In the first phase appointments would be made from grade 1 to nine and in the second phase recruitment would be made in grade 14 to grade 17 by ensuring merit.
Sindh Law Minister Mohammad Ayaz Soomro called upon the officers of Works Department to realise their responsibilities to ensure the quality of work and complete the development schemes before the forthcoming budget so that the funds in this regard may not lapse.
The Minister observed that in District Larkana, primary schools will be up-graded into secondary school, Mohammad Ayaz Soomro informed the meeting that all out efforts will be made for the purpose.
In the meeting the District Officer Works presented to the Minister a list of schemes in education sector which had not yet been implemented due to the non-availability of funds and plots.
A report presented on tbhe occasion said under the on-going Annual Development Programme (ADP) 142 locations were approved for the construction of new buildings for shelter-less schools. Also, 98 additional class-rooms were to be built in higher secondary and secondary schools and four auditoriums in selected high schools. However, the previous government did not provide the funds allocated for the purpose and that was why these approved schemes could not take off, the report said.
The current financial year was nearing its end but funds have are yet to be released, the report added.
