LAHORE: Shazia Marri, Sindh Information Minister, has said that NFC Award formula should be devised keeping in view multiple factors, and not on the basis of population alone (which is in favor of Punjab province only).

According to The Nation newspaper, Shazia said that multiple factors like revenue generation by four provinces, their population in addition to poverty level and underdevelopment situation should be taken into account while formulating the NFC Award. “It did not suit the smaller provinces that were already underdeveloped and facing numerous problems due to lack of resources.” siad Shazia Marri

The minister said it was the responsibility of the federal government to watch the interests of all federating units keeping in view their specific requirements. It was time to set a multiple criterion for fixation of NFC award to make it acceptable to all the provinces, she added.
