Lawyers convoy heading towards Sukkur

KARACHI : Lawyers have started long march for the restoration of deposed judges on Monday. Convoys of lawyers including members of civil society that left form Karachi and Quetta heading towards Sukkhar.Hundreds of lawyers and members of civil society have gathered at Sindh High Court and City Court Karachi to participate in the long march. A general body meeting of lawyers was held at Sindh High Court which was attended by the civil society members and political workers. Deposed chief justice of SHC Justice Sabeehuddin Ahmed, Fakhruddin G. Ibrahim and lawyer leaders addressed the meeting.

The long march is the need of the time and the lawyers and other people are required to participate in it,” Fakhruddin G. Ibrahim said. He believed that the movement for restoration of deposed judges would end in success.

Deposed chief justice of SHC Justice Sabeehuddin Ahmed said free judiciary is compulsory for a democratic society.

Former Justice Rasheed Razvi said the people should join lawyers in their movement for survival of the country.

The convoys carrying the banners for the restoration of judiciary and pictures of deposed chief justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Chaudhry from Sindh High Court left for Mazar-e-Quaid led by Justice Fakhruddin G. Ibrahi, Munir A. Malik. Rasheed Razvi and other leaders of the lawyers’ movement.

Meanwhile in Quetta senior lawyer Ali Ahmed Kurd lead the lawyers convoy.

Addressing a press conference at Lahore High Court on Sunday President Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) Aitzaz Ahsan issued guidelines for the long march.

He said that on Monday, convoys from various cities of Sindh and Balochistan would leave for Sukkur. Aaj TV, 2008
