Sindh Govt making efforts to root out tribal clashes, illiteracy

HYDERABAD: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has said that keeping in view the tribal clashes and illiteracy as big challenges, government was sincerely making all out efforts to root out these menaces.
In this connection he called upon intellectual, writers and literary class to contribute their crucial part in getting province rid from these social crises.
This he said while addressing the function, held to mark 55th birthday anniversary of Shaheed Mohtarma Banazir Bhutto organized by Pakistan Peoples Party Cultural Wing Sindh Chapter at Dr Nabi Bux Baloch Auditorium Sindhi Language Authority Hyderabad Monday night.
Sindh Chief Minister said that anti democratic element had hatched the conspiracy against the people of Sindh and divided the province into tribes and pitched them against each other, which resulted the occurrence of deadly clashes on daily basis.
He said that though Sindh Government was taking strict action to prevent this wrong practice but the cooperation of the intellectual and writers is essentially required to bring the province out of these crises through behavioral change in the masses.
The Sindh Chief Minister said that rulers of previous Government had ruined the province academically and economically. He said that there were complaints of having sub-standard education, being imparted at the public schools of Sindh.
He said that severity of this challenge could be gauged from this fact that, today almost 0.7 million children were out of schools.
He said that Ministry of Education has been entrusted the task of qualitative education with attractive academic provision, so that parents should be proactive and send their children to public schools.
Syed Qaim Ali Shah said that Shaheed Mohtarma Banazir Bhutto was very much keen to promote living standard of the common people through providing basic facilities of education, employment and health care to them.
He said keeping the guidelines of Shaheed Mohtarma Banazir Bhutto in view our Government has raised the allocation for the education sector upto 88 percent and for the health sector upto 130 percent in addition to ear mark Rs 5 billion in the budget of 2008-09 to combat with menace of Hepatitis B and C.
The Sindh Chief Minster Syed Qaim Ali Shah who was also the president of Pakistan Peoples Party Sindh Chapter, paying rich tribute to Shaheed Mohtarma Banazir Bhutto, called her as the great leader of the world. He said that her mission was the only hope to make the country as welfare state.
He said that before return to Pakistan the dictators tried their hard to stop her from coming here but she fulfilled her commitment with the people of Pakistan though she was threatened for consequences of her life.
He said that keeping in view such grave situation, she wrote her own will on October 16, 2008 two days before her departure to Pakistan.
He said that Benazir Bhutto called the emergency, imposed on November 3, 2008 by President Pervez Musharraf as martial law. She vowed to fight against this unconstitutional step that she did till her last breath.
Syed Qaim Ali Shah said that besides being great politician, she was also a great writer. He said that her books were the guide lines for the next generation.
Lauding the role of PPP Cultural Wing the Sindh Chief Minister said that such type of gathering would play vital role for implementation of the mission of Shaheed Mohtram Banazir Bhutto and called upon the nation to be united and foil the nefarious designs of anti democratic elements.
The Sindh Minister for Education Pir Mazharul-Haq in his speech said that if we failed to be united, we would loose, what we have achieved under the leadership of Shaheed Mohtarma Banazir Bhutto.
The Sindh Minister for Cultural and Tourism Mohtarma Sassi Palejo in her address said that Rs100 million have been earmarked for the establishment of the Shaheed Bhutto Museum at Ghari Khuda Bux, while a separate gallery of Shaheed Mohtarma Banazir Bhutto was also being established at Sindh Museum Hyderabad.
The Vice Chancellor Sindh University Professor Mazhrul-ul-Haq Siddique said that Shaheed Mohtarma was very much keen for the development of social sector and had constituted social sector co-ordination committee in the cabinet during her first tenure as prime minister of Pakistan .
The renowned Scholar Dr. Ghulam Ali Alana in his speech proposed for the establishment of institution of Shaheed Banazir Bhutto Studies (IBBS) and Shaheed Banazir Bhutto Chair with resources centre, to guide the future generation about the mission of Bhutto family. He said that he had prepared the scheme much before which was still laying with him for implementation. (APP)
