Two killed in violence in Karachi
Apr 9th, 2008 | By Sindh Today | Category: SindhKARACHI: Two persons were killed in violent disturbances in the city following scuffle between two groups of lawyers in city courts on Wednesday. One person was found shot dead in a wagon in Burns Road area while another person who was injured in firing died in Civil Hospital.
Police and Rangers restored traffic on M.A. Jinnah Road and I.I. Chundrigar Road and continously patrolling.
During disturbances a number of buses, coaches, trucks and cars were torched in various parts of the city.
A truck was set ablaze at Nagan Chowrangi and a coach near cafe Piyala in Gulberg area.
Meanwhile, IG Police Azhar Farooqui said that the damage would have been much higher had the police not acted on time. He said more damage was caused in city court, M.A. Jinnah Road and Malir courts.
The public transport in the city disappeared following violent disturbances and people had to face great hardship in reaching their homes. APP
