Sindh govt lifts ban on flour movement

KARACHI : The flour mills owners have withdrawn the strike call after the government decided to lift ban over movement of wheat in Sindh.
According to media, Chief Minister of Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah presided over a meeting, attended by the flourmills owners and the officials of food department.
The government of Sindh on recommendation of the flourmills owners decided to lift ban over inter-provincial movement of the wheat.
The government also allowed the mills to stock upto 1500 bags of wheat, while the flourmills owners assured to the government that the ex-mill price of the flour will be brought down to Rs. 22.
Talking to media, provincial secretary for food Ejaz Ahmed Khan said that the mills have been allowed to stock wheat to bring the flour rates down and to stabilize the prices. The mills however would not use the wheat stocks for trade and the government would monitor the flourmills stocks, he added.
The government of Sindh had imposed ban on inter-provincial movement of the wheat to complete its wheat procurement target. www.Aaj.tv, 2008
