New air-conditioned radio taxi service launched in Kolkata

Kolkata, Aug 9 (IANS) Indo-Japanese joint venture infrastructure company ORIX Auto Infrastructure Services Ltd. (OAIS) has launched an air-conditioned radio taxi service here.

Branded as ‘Kolkata Cab’, the service was launched Friday.

OAIS is a joint venture company between the Japanese leasing and infrastructure services major ORIX Corporation and the Indian leasing and infrastructure services major Infrastructure Leasing & Financial Services (IL&FS).

Makoto Shioda, director, OAIS, said in a statement: ‘Large scale investments on roads and related infrastructure has created opportunities for the organised sector to invest in transport infrastructure services and provide the country with efficient and cost-effective services.’

‘Kolkata Cab’ would ply all over West Bengal and its main focus would be to provide safe, clean, cost-effective transport, the statement said.
