Youth ends life over poor academic record

Ghaziabad, Sep 5 (IANS) A 21-year-old student committed suicide after faring poorly in his post-graduate course at a private engineering college here, the police said Friday.

Ankit Yadav, a first-year student pursuing Masters in Computer Applications (MCA) at the Institute of Technology and Science (ITS) in Ghaziabad, apparently consumed sulphas tablets Thursday and he was admitted to Narinder Mohan Hospital, a police official said.

The poisonous sulphas dissolved at high levels in his blood, eventually resulting in his death, he said.

People close to Ankit revealed that he had failed in a few subjects in his MCA course last year and he had to repeat a year. Due to this, he remained constantly under depression and on Thursday he took the extreme step of ending his life.
