Jamnagar (Gujarat), Sep 13 (IANS) In a freak accident, a man who was standing outside his house in Jamnagar district was killed by a stray bullet that came from a nearby army firing range, the police said Saturday.

Kunwarsinh Jovansinh Damor, 20, was standing outside his house at 9.30 a.m. Saturday in Dared village, 7 km from here, when a stray bullet from the firing range where the army and navy personnel were practising hit him in the chest killing him on the spot, the police said.

Damor’s death caused confusion among the villagers who did not know who had fired at him, the police added.

Later in the afternoon a complaint was filed and the police confirmed that the bullet had come from the firing range.

Damor hailed from Jambhuva district of Madhya Pradesh and was living in Dared village which is part of Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation estate Phase III.
