Tamil Nadu leaders seek Indian intervention in Sri Lanka
Sep 23rd, 2008 | By Sindh Today | Category: IndiaChennai, Sep 23 (IANS) Tamil Nadu political leaders K. Veeramani and Thol Thirumavalavan courted arrest along with over 300 supporters here Tuesday to demand India’s intervention in Sri Lanka.
‘The (central government) should immediately intervene in the Tamils’ issue in Sri Lanka and desist from assisting the Sinhala regime in Colombo in its military misadventure,’ Dravida Kazhagam leader Veeramani told reporters before being arrested.
‘It is a matter of national shame that some defence personnel from our (country) were found assisting Sri Lanka’s military establishment a few days’ ago,’ added Thirumavalavan, who heads the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi.
His reference was to the injuries two Indian radar technicians suffered when the LTTE executed a pre-dawn land and air attack on a Sri Lankan military base in the island’s north this month.
The two led a protest march from the Dravida Kazhagam headquarters to the main rail terminal in Chennai in an attempt to block traffic but were arrested enroute, police sources said.
All those arrested were later released, official sources added.
Both the outfits claim to provide ‘moral support’ to the banned Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE). The ethnic conflict in Sri Lanka has left over 75,000 people dead since 1983.

It is also a matter of national shame that some tamils in India supported LTTE to kill A National leader like Mr. Rajive Gandhi.
All the tamils should unite to creat a separate country for them in Tamilnadu where a large number of tamils living in. Regions they cleim in Sri Lanka is too small for all the tamils in the world. Therefore they should think about much larger area where the tamils have been occupied for over centuries. Tamilnadu is the Tamil’s homeland and all the tamils should unite for getting it.
There is no shame in helping a fellow neigbor deal with an insurgency.
India helped Colombo with the JVP insurgency, now it is doing so with the LTTE. When people in a democracy have a political point to make, they should do so via the electoral process, not with the gun.
Anything else is uncivilised.

If Rajive Randhi was not killed , some elements in India will find another excuse to help the genocide of tamils. When india send their troupes to SL to kill , to harass , to rape and murder 1000s of inocent tamil people , did you people already knew Mr Gandhi will be killed by ltte? Rajive’e issue complletly masked the atrocities commited IPKF to tamils in Sl, and saved India s image.
Indians in the north never wanted peace in SL , they dont have any feelings for tamils, so dont talk about insurgency and terorism that you only created in SL.
It s the Big Time for tamil leaders like Karunanithii to voice angaist this injustice on India so that he can be in the minds of tamils in the world for ever like MGR, otherwise history will never forgive them. Soon or later India’s duplicity will be revealed and will shamed.
There no best ally for India other than SL tamils ,ther is no best security for India other than from stable Tamil Eaalam as neighbor, thanks to the cultural link with tamil nadhu.
Singalses will go like a dog were they find food, today they are with Pakistan , and China for arms , dont you think they wont act against India if needed.
We lost everything , and we have nothing to lose more , we will fight/voice till the last Sl tamil in the world is alive… this is not a group’s fight , it s a people ’s fight ,started even before Pirabaharan was born.
It is good time for India and thier leaders to secure an honarable place in Sri lankan tamil s hart and history.
Mr. Tharis, If IPKF have done so much things as you say, to SL tamils why do you want them back in SL to support tamils in SL. Don’t you think it is better to have a seperate large country for all the tamils in the world. Try to make a big country otherwise you have to claim seperate countries where ever you tamils live. (like Fiji, Malaysia, Norway etc.)
tharis, the hatred you have towards Sinhala people is quite evident in your posting. Unless you do something about that, soon it won’t be the Sinhalese’s that will destroy you but your own hatred towards them.
For more than 2000 years, Sri Lankan civilization was built up by the Sinhala people (and Tamil invaders only destroyed it from time to time the last of which been Kalinga Maga). Even today, all the irrigation schemes in area’s under LTTE control which are used by Tamils were built not by Tamils but by ancient Sinhala people. Therefore no matter how much or how loud you cry, Sri Lanka belongs to the Sinhala people and it is their’s to keep. If you need a country for your own, please ask for independence for Tamil Nadu from India for it is the true homeland of Tamil people.
Even if history was different, supporting a terrorist outfit like LTTE or to make diabolical lies day in and day out all over is a pathetic way to live one’s life. There are much better and accepted ways to make a point in today’s world and demand your basic rights regardless of what happened in the past.
The only way for Tamils to succeed in Sri Lanka is to integrate themselves with the majority Sinhalese and is not by segregating themselves into a far corner in the island. Note very clearly that Barak Obama would not have been able to rise to where he is today if he had only represented the interests of the Black minority of America.
I watched some videos showing Sinhala soldiers butchering Tamil women and playing with their naked bodies. I watched the video that showed a Sri Lankan war plance dropping a bomb and killing several toddlers. Charred bodies of several children are brough out by their parents. Sri Lanka is not hesitating to drop bombs that kills any one in 10 km range into civilan areas held by Tigers. This is not a civil war. This is worse than a war between two nations. Its is a heart moving agony that we have to watch this type of incidents. Indians have been sleeping all this time. But the time has come for all the Tamils to unite and fight this monster Sinhala nation. The Indian Tamils have started mobilizing entire India agains the Terrorist State Sri Lanka. The message about the true happenings in Sri Lanka is fast spreading from Tamil Nadu to entire India. I am sure our Indian brothers will join hands with the Tamil Nadu people in finding a lasting solution to this problem and teach the Sinalese a lesson that they will ermember for the next 1000 years. I request all my Indian brothers to show their solidarity in containing this terrorist state of Sri Lanka.

Yes. Every body is responsible, including you and me for not undertanding the problem sincerely and resolving this issue before all this mess started. The Sri Lankan government has not punished one single soul in the past 30 years for any of these atrocities.
