No differences between government and armed forces, Antony
Oct 1st, 2008 | By Sindh Today | Category: IndiaNew Delhi, Oct 1 (IANS) Defence Minister A.K. Antony Wednesday said there were no differences between the government and the armed forces over the pay commission’s report and a notification on revised pay scales would be issued soon.
‘There is no difference between the government and the services, because they are also part of the government. Don’t read too much (into the forces complaint),’ Antony said while addressing the annual day celebrations of the Defence Accounts Department (DAD).
Pointing out that the government had taken a decision in the union cabinet to implement the pay commission report after amendments, the defence minister said the additional burden on the exchequer due to the changes in the approved Central Pay Commission (CPC) would be Rs.60 billion.
“The government is examining it at the appropriate level. Meanwhile, you are reading too much. It is not correct,’ Antony clarified after media reports that the defence services had refused to accept the new pay scales for officers.
The government has already formed a panel to study the demand of the defence services and the revised salaries would be decided and implemented once the calculations are complete, the minister said.
The armed forces had already submitted details for revised pay scales, Antony said adding that the government had issued a notification for paying ad hoc arrears to personnel due to delay in calculating their revised pay for October.
Antony also urged DAD to render prompt and efficient pensionary services to over 2 million ex-servicemen and their dependents and ensure that the benefits introduced for pensioners were delivered to the intended beneficiaries promptly.

Antony calls for Prompt Pension Dispersal to Two Million Ex-Servicemen-16:9 IST-Request for clarification about the latest position regarding the revised pay scale of Ex-servicemen as per Sixth CPC to be paid and when to avoid spreading rumours now and then since long in this case…………Learned Defence Minister A K Antony calls for Prompt Pension Dispersal to Two Million Ex-Servicemen-16:9 IST-The press release is routine in nature not at all speaking order in any manner as it looks, as to what revised pension scale as per Sixth Central Pay Commission (CPC) to be paid to Two Million Ex-Servicemen immediately and no notification issued or detail referred in the press release to that effect. What about ex-servicemen-nothing so far? Nothing has coming out in black and white for them till date and time! It seems the press release is only eyewash and the suspense and rumours continue. When the notification to pay the ‘revised pay scale’ to them according to the Sixth Pay Commission shall be issued? Who will clarify the confusion and remove the suspense of the uncertainty in the case of ex-servicemen also? Learned Defence Minister A K Antony or any competent authority in the matter is requested to clarify the latest position in view of the above query to avoid spreading rumours now and then regarding the revised pay scale of Ex-servicemen as per Sixth CPC. Submission and information to all requesting prompt reply and necessary action in the matter. Thanks Balbir Singh Sooch (Ex-Sgt.)
End discrimination against ex-servicemen, demand IESM- Survival, Equality, honour and Status of EX-SERVICEMEN only after “One Rank-One Pensionâ€- Question of Survival, Equality, honour and Status of EX-SERVICEMEN only after the PENSION on the basis of service of equal number of years and attaining same rank, irrespective of the time of joining and retirement-The right and demand of Ex-servicemen is within the Article 14 etc of ‘The Indian Constitution’ should have been accepted long back as always promised by the various political parties and heads remained and are in power so far. As to why the falsehood and the policies of deception are always prevailing over the very genuine legal right and demand of Ex-servicemen since long? Moreover, orders for implementation of revised pension as per the Sixth Pay Commission recommendations were also not decided and issued by the government so far and Non-receipt of revised pension orders and the delaying decision to convey details to pension disbursing officers is also badly affecting Ex-servicemen whereas the civilian pensioners were already paid. Sir, The ex-servicemen of 60 and above aged are only depending upon the pension. We all know our Government will do the best to us as the fact remains that we served and drew the salaries in hundreds. Immediate payment of reliefs till finanalisation is a welcomed one.
