New Delhi, Dec 10 (IANS) Panic spread in the Connaught Place in the heart of the national capital after a suspicious object was found left in an auto-rickshaw, the police said.

Two foreign nationals, said to be Nigerians, had left a bag in the auto-rickshaw at 4.30 p.m., police officials said. The auto-rickshaw driver opened the bag and found a portable safe, which he reported to the police, they said.

The Connaught Place police station sent a bomb disposal squad and a special team of the National Security Guard (NSG) also reached the spot, and experts were at work to defuse explosives, if any, the officials said.
