Bangalore, May 6 (IANS) Well-known sports commentator Charu Sharma has been replaced by former Test player Brijesh Patel as the new chief executive officer of the Bangalore Royal Challengers. “Brijesh Patel has taken over as the CEO of the Royal Challengers as Charu Sharma has stepped down due to personal reasons,” an official statement of Challengers said Tuesday.

The appointment of Patel comes in the wake of the poor performance of the team.

Royal Challengers, owned by liquor baron Vijay Mallya, have faced a slew of defeats in the Indian Premier League (IPL) tournament and are at seventh place in the IPL standings. The Challengers, led by Rahul Dravid, lost five of their seven matches.
