New Delhi, Sep 24 (IANS) Just when Apple’s iPhone was dominating the Indian market in the high end mobile segment, Samsung mobile launched its future ready 3.5G (third generation and beyond) super phone, Omnia SGH-i900 here Wednesday.
Most of handset manufacturers like Nokia, Samsung, Motorola and LG are trying hard to challenge the iPhone 3G. Most of these manufacturers are planning to launch their touch phones to counter Apple iPhone.
The handset market worldwide grew 15% year to year, to reach 297 million units in second quarter. Nokia took the lead by taking whopping 41.1% share, up from 40.9% in the first quarter, shipping 122 million phones. Samsung followed with 15.4% share and Motorola holding third place with 9.5% followed by LG at 9.3% and Sony Ericsson at 8.2%.
Here comes a challenger to Apple’s iPhone’s 3G. Sumsung instinct has potential to go head and head against iPhone. It has similar features and design which could help sprint in U.S to keep a strong hold on the customers from luring to AT&T for iPhone 3G. It has slick interface which is lacking in iPhone 3G.
