Google’s new Search Appliance stores 10M docs

Google Search ApplianceThe web search giant Google has said that it has improved its enterprise search Appliance. The new appliance has ability to store and search up to 10 million documents. The new search box comes with same capacity as of previous versions with five box racks.

Google has also added new features in the document search box which is designed to run on company intranet. The main features which are new to the current version of box includes, allowing administrators to customize search result for different user groups and spell checker in different languages.

The search appliance will be available in its bright yellow color and it will be on Dell server with localized administration in 27 different languages, according to Google.

Google has about 20,000 enterprise search customers form which half of whom use its search appliance and the rest of whom use it hosted site search and other enterprise products.

  1. I have been interested in these for a while. Would love to have one to play with and investigate if we may be able to integrate it with the custom applications we create. Unfortunately the hefty prices tag has put me off getting a unit to play with so far.
