Intel announced today that it will brand its Nehalem processors, including a highest-end Extreme Edition chip as Intel Core with “i7″. The i7 identifier will be used for upcoming line of Intel Core processors. The identifier will be different for other Core Processor after the first crop.

The main reason for branding the Nehalem processor with just “Intel Core” is to simplify to name for easy brand recognition as reported by news agencies.

Commonly known by its code name Nehelem processor which will be branded with Core i7 does not seem to have the clear relation with previous processors including Intel Core 2 Duo. The Intel Core i7 processors will be manufactured using Intel’s process 45-nanometer. The core i7 processors which will come with micro architecture technology are expected to get more attention from gamer as games requires highest performance from chips.
