Yahoo Buzz Goes Public to Compete Digg
Aug 19th, 2008 | By Sindh Today | Category: Biz-Tech, TechnologyYahoo announced that its Buzz, social news website, is now available to the general public. According to Tapan Bhat, senior vice president of front doors, communities and network services, who wrote in his blog post that “”What does this mean for you? Anything you find on the Web is now buzzableâ€.
Further he wrote that Now every Webmaster is allowed to “Buzz Up†to its Website and if Buzz button is not available on the website, readers can Buzz an article of their interest to the Buzz website. “Like always, the more unique and compelling the story, the better chance your story of choice will buzz up to the Yahoo homepage†Bhat said in his blogpost.

Now it is a chance for publishers to rush to Yahoo Buzz for promoting their material as they did with Digg in its initial time. Unlike its rival Digg, Yahoo Buzz does not rate stories solely on direct user’s vote but also considers factors such as searches, emails and more. Before making it available to general public, Yahoo Buzz had selective websites which were allowed to publish their material on the website. The program now has about 400 participants to publish stories and 5 million users, Bhat wrote.
