Nokia N96 to challenge Apple iPhone 3G

It comes with 16 GB storage space which could be expanded to 24GB by external micro SD card. It is ready to be launched in India coming September.
According to Davinder Kishor, Director-Marketing, Nokia India, “We have announced a pre-booking scheme that would start from Wednesday at our 2,000 Nokia outlets across the countryâ€. He further said that ““The massive 24GB memory allows you to store up to 18,000 songs, up to 20,000 images at 5 mega pixel, up to 60 hours of video or 20 full-length movies. With multifunctional media keys and a 2.8 inch screen, music, movies, games and more are available at the touch of a button,â€.
He also talked about the security and said that Nokia N 96 comes with preloaded ‘Wave Secure’ security application which allows consumers not only to track the phone if it is stolen or lost but also create a back-up data through the internet.

“Nokia’s range of multi-function, converged devices clearly demonstrates that convergence is no longer an industry buzzword — it is a reality for consumers and business users today. In 2007, the Nokia N95 became an icon for convergence of Internet and mobility. Today, in the Web 2.0 Era, the new Nokia N96 places the power to shape the Internet in your hands, in addition to being to the ultimate entertainment gadget,†said Mr. Kishore in Nokia conference.
Nokia N96 is equipped with Nokia Maps 2.0 application, 5 Mega pixel cameras with carl zeiss optics, dual LED Flash and video light. The announcement is seen as Nokia is trying to keep its dominance in the Indian market even after the emergence of Apple’s iPhone 3G.
