Smartphone Update - Market Share for 4th Quarter of 2008
Mar 17th, 2009 - 3:46 pm EST By Sindh Today | Category: Biz-Tech, TechnologyOne of the hot news in smartphone industry these days is the marketshare estimation of 4th quarter of 2008, and now the people at Symbian Foundation got lot more to brag about. According to the results; Symbian leads with 47.1%, followed by RIM BlackBerry with 19.5%, Windows Mobile is placed on third position with the marketshare of 12.4% and the last three were Mac OS X (iPhone) 10.7%, Palm OS 0.9% and Other 1.1%

But the Symbian should not show that much attitude as they are gradually dropping in sales as compare to the reading of last year. Comparing statistics of others like Windows Mobile and Palm OS they remain unchanged but RIM and Apple figures are increased with a from 14% to 30%.
Alarming for Nokia, is their absence from U.S. market. On the other hands most of RIM and Apple share comes from the local market of USA. Now the major concerns of stack holders of Nokia is that how will they keep RIM and Apple out of their dominant market, which is Europe and rest of the world.
