Apple to fix DNS of Mac OS X

Jul 29th, 2008 - 12:05 am EST By Sindh Today | Category: Biz-Tech, Technology

Mac OS XApple, the maker of Mac OS X server, still have not fixed the major security hole in the Domain Name Service (DNS) of Mac OS X Servers which was discovered by Dan Kaminsky three months ago.

DNS, which allows any server to map Domain Name (i.e SindhToday.net) to IP address (i.e 192.168.1.1), have serious security hole that hacker can easily change the IP for the domain name.

Microsoft, Redhat, Cisco and other companies have already issued patches for their operating system. The Music giant Apple have yet to issue the patch for the security problem.

It worth mentioning here the details of vulnerability have not been disclosed officially as it is set to be released during the Black Hat security conference next month but it is common understanding the DNS issue is no more secret and many hackers already know the nature of the vulnerability.
