YouTube: Olympics highlights online

Beijing Olympic, YouTubeThe largest video sharing website, YouTube have earned the limited broadcasting rights to upload the sports clips of Beijing Olympics 2008 Games for more than 77 countries including India and Iraq. YouTube will broadcast in countries where digital rights have not been sold.

The Olympics coverage will start two days before the official opening of Beijing Olympics 2008. Opening ceremony of event is on Friday August 8th.

The IOC said that the Olympic Broadcasting Services will produce clips on YouTube channel which include highlights of news clips and daily videos of the Olympic games, according to Wall Street Journal. YouTube, and parent company Google will also help pulling out illegally uploaded copyrighted Olympics content from the video sharing website.

The aim behind allowing YouTube to show Olympics clips is to cut down on illegal viewing of games
