Dubai, Sep 16 (IANS) A leading global consumer electronics major Tuesday launched what it claims to be the world’s only television with the holy Quran built in.

LG Electronics unveiled the new plasma series TV with the built-in Quran in Saudi Arabia Tuesday to mark the ongoing Islamic holy month of Ramadan.

The TV allows viewers to read the Quran, search and bookmark passages and listen to scriptures, an LG statement said.

It also includes LG’s ‘Time Machine DVR’ technology for recording and playing back TV shows.

According to the statement, the in-built Quran incorporated into LG’s new plasma TV includes all the 114 suras or verses and users can search for specific suras and bookmark up to 10 favourites.

The TV also includes a multilingual interface for navigating and one can read on screen both in Arabic and Farsi.

At the top of the screen is a status bar that displays the name of the sura, verse numbers and the time of day. The TV also allows viewers to listen to the Quran.
