Baghdad, Oct 1 (Xinhua) At least three people were killed and 29 injured Wednesday when a bomb planted in a car went off at a parking-lot in Iraq’s Salahudin province, the police said.

‘A car bomb in a busy parking-lot in the Shia holy suburb of Saiyd Muhammad in the town of Balad, some 80 km north of Baghdad, went off and killed at least three people,’ a police source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

More than 25 people were also injured in the blast, the official said.

Dozens of cars parked at the site were destroyed in the explosion.

The death toll could rise as the area was heavily crowded with people visiting the holy shrine of Imam Muhammad, one of the twelve most revered Shia Imams of Iraq.
