Titanic cruise to repeat original route, menu to mark 100th anniversary

London, April 15 (ANI): A cruise will take the original route followed by the Titanic and will also have a similar menu which was offered in 1912 to mark the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the liner.

The Titanic anniversary cruise, bookings for which have already begun, will also carry the same number of passengers, i.e. 1,309, as were on the fateful voyage.

The historic journey would leave Southmapton in early April 2012 and will reach the exact location where the vessel sank on April 14.

A special ceremony would then be held between 11.40pm, when the liner hit the iceberg, and 2.20am on April 15 when it drowned.

The cruise will end in New York after touching Halifax, Nova Scotia for excursions, which will include a visit to the Fairview Lawn Cemetery where 121 Titanic victims lay buried.

Miles Morgan, managing director of Miles Morgan Travel, revealed the strong ‘fascination for the Titanic’ would make the cruise a hit.

“The whole voyage will be steeped in Titanic history,” the Telegraph quoted him as saying.

“The food served will match the sumptuous menus on the original voyage; the entertainment will include music and dancing in the style featured in those glorious times and there will be a chance to hear first hand from historians who have studied the Titanic story,” he added. (ANI)
