Jakarta, Aug 3 (Xinhua) A 19-year-old Indonesian man has died of bird flu, raising the toll in the avian influenza to 112 in the country, the health ministry said Sunday.

The man died last week at Tanggerang town on the outskirts of Jakarta, Director General of Communicable Disease Control at the health ministry Nyoman Kandun said.

According to the World Health Organization, the deadly H5N1 virus has killed 243 out of 385 infected people in 15 countries since late 2003.

Indonesia has the highest mortality due to the infection.

Experts warn that the virus may mutate into another deadly form that could travel from animals to humans and lead to a pandemic killing millions the world over.
